From 1 January 2026, the civic exam will be required for those applying for a multi-year residence permit (CSP) or a residence card (CR).

This exam aims to assess the candidate’s knowledge of the principles and values of the Republic, the Republic’s system of government and the functioning of French society.

I register at: https://test-civique.fr/inscription

To prepare for this exam, I can contact the OFII or visit the official civic education website to prepare on my own: https://formation-civique.interieur.gouv.fr/. I can also practise using the official lists of questions, available for each version of the exam (CSP – multi-year residence permit, CR – residence permit).

I pay for my civic exam on the Alliance Française website.

The Alliance Française receives my application and confirms the date I have chosen on my profile (on the website https://test-civique.fr/inscription).
I confirm this.
